Description
Scottish sterling silver highland themed plaid or kilt brooch with a large orange paste stone, to mimic cairngorm, in a central mount with an outer rim which is decorated with Celtic knots, bosses, galleys and triskele forms. Assayed and hallmarked in Glasgow in 1950 as sterling silver and made by the prolific maker of Scottish jewellery Robert Allison, this is a very well made brooch with multiple claws to hold the stone. Just 2 inches across, a respectable weight of 30 grams total (heavy enough for a kilt or even a strap brooch) and partially cleaned but not polished.
