Scottish Silver & Stone Locket, Antique, Victorian, Polished Granite, Sterling Silver

This is a mid 19th Century Scottish sterling silver locket with polished grey and pink granite. From the mid part of Queen Victoria's reign, comes this rather nice locket, oval in shape with polished granite arranged around a silver 6 pointed star to the front face of the locket. To the reverse the silver is knurled or engraved with a "garter" and within is a small cartouche for initial engraving, which is not and never has been engraved, except for the "garter" and the cartouche the whole of the silver is either engraved or covered with a knurled pattern, finished off with an excellent quality suspension bale. Inside, the gold plated sterling silver rims hold in glass oval panels which protect any pictures or photos from dust and inside the glass are possibly the original black backing sheets, probably cotton. All in all it is a very nice example of a piece of Scottish Victorian jewellery and all is good.
