Set of Nine Antique Victorian Hand-carved Oak Panels

A fine and complete set of nine matching hand-carved antique oak panels dating from the late Victorian period. Each panel is beautifully worked in solid English oak, carved in deep relief with Tudor and Renaissance-inspired motifs including stylized foliage, flowerhead rondels, and geometric tracery each depicting lively 17th-century tavern and village scenes in deep relief. The panels capture rustic life with remarkable detail—featuring figures drinking, dancing, playing music, and socialising—evocative of Flemish or Dutch Golden Age genre paintings inspired by artists such as Teniers or Jan Steen. Carved from solid oak with a rich, dark patina, each panel displays excellent craftsmanship, with expressive characters and deeply modelled backgrounds creating strong three-dimensionality. These would have originally adorned a large sideboard, settle, or room panelling in a period interior, but now make striking standalone decorative pieces. The craftsmanship is exceptional, showing crisp carving and fine detail typical of the Victorian Gothic and Renaissance Revival style.
