Set of Six Late Victorian Gothic Revival Salon Chairs c.1880

A handsome suite of six English side chairs in the Gothic Revival taste, circa 1875–1890. Shaped cresting rails with roundel bosses, a linked roundel to the mid-rail and turned, stop‑fluted front legs. Walnut with a mellow original patina; stuffed-over seats in a later blue/grey fabric. These elegant, light chairs were designed for the Victorian salon or small dining room and sit beautifully around a breakfast table or as occasional chairs throughout the house. Frames are solid and present well; upholstery is serviceable but would benefit from fresh covers to taste. We can arrange reupholstery in your fabric if required. Provenance: From a private collection. Likely UK-made for a bourgeois parlour/salon or small dining room. The current light blue/grey upholstery is a later replacement; frames retain an older surface consistent with late 19th‑century manufacture.
