Description
Early Georgian silver tea/sugar tongs( called also nips) were used for putting lumps of sugar in teacups at around c1720. These types of tongs commonly assumed a scissor-type shape after around that date, a more practical bow-type shape. These pairs have turned and tapered shafts. The only visible mark is a lion passant inside the grab.
