Silver Photograph Fob Victorian 1884 Antique Pocket Watch Chain Large Fob

Victorian Gentleman's large and chunky Antique Sterling silver highly ornate photograph fob. C ~1884. (Please excuse the reflections/dark shadows in the pictures - was extremely difficult to photograph). Similar to the fobs I have supplied to Pinewood Studios. Measures; 4.3cm height (including the top ring), 2.8cm width, 1.3cm depth and weighs a respectable 8.1 grams. The slightly concave front is beautifully and elaborately adorned with slightly raised scrollwork, beadwork and fancy alternating crosses. To centre is a raised oval shaped plaque depicting ivy leaves (popular in Victorian times to symbolise everlasting love) set upon an attractive engine turned background. The slightly concave back is smooth, highly polished and free from any inscriptions or initials. Fully hallmarked (within different shaped, fancy recessed cartouches) with the Lion passant (Sterling silver), anchor (Birmingham assay) and Gothic lower case letter; K - dating her to 1884. Also stamped with the makers initials (slightly rubbed) within an oval shaped, recessed cartouche; C.J.D. Opens up correctly, closing tightly with a very reassuring click and the hinge is true and firm with absolutely no play. Inside are two oval shaped compartments (still retain their original Lion passant hallmarked Sterling silver retaining rings) to display photographs of loved ones. Both are lined with bottle green baize which can easily be removed if desired. Very fancy bail and original silver top ring to attach to a Gentleman's pocket watch chain. Excellent clean and bright condition with no wear or damage and just some extremely light and fine little overall surface scratches (showing under eyeglass) commensurate with age.
