Description
This is a small antique 6-draw pocket telescope, an English hiking or navigational instrument by Baker of London, dating to the mid Victorian period, circa 1860. Perfect for bird watching, landscape appreciation, wildlife, or maritime observation. Equally suitable for observing the night sky. A charming and compact example of Victorian optical ingenuity. Crafted in brass, with each of the six draw tubes offering smooth extension. Primary barrel dressed in a rich chestnut leather jacket, gently aged with use. Brass surfaces display a pleasing time-worn patina, enhancing the antique appeal. Rear draw tube finely engraved 'Baker, 244 High Holborn, London' – a known Victorian maker. Fitted with a push-type brass dust cap protecting the 22mm objective lens. Remarkably portable design, ideal for hiking, travel or gentleman’s day trips. A delightful piece for collectors of scientific instruments, Victorian optics, or field gear. Supplied with a London Fine oak and brass 'Captain's Stand' for display. This small six-draw telescope offers pocket-sized practicality with period charm, and remains a wonderful example of 19th century British craftsmanship. Delivered ready to enjoy. We offer a 100% satisfaction guarantee with all of our antiques. Please contact us if you require any further information - we are here to help.
