This is a small antique lidded pot. A Chinese, carved soapstone snuff jar, dating to the late Victorian period, circa 1900. Charming pot with Oriental animal decor to the bulbous finish. Displays a desirable aged patina throughout. Tactile soapstone presents a mottled finish with golden and reddish hues. Each bulb decorated with an iconic Chinese figure - Dragon, bird, turtle and lion. Foliate decoration to the lid with a Chinese character forming the handle. This is a distinctive antique lidded pot, with fascinating relief carved mythical animals. Delivered polished and ready to display.
