Description
A sweet little sterling silver "mether" cup, in the traditional Irish quatrefoil form with tapering sides and shaped rim. Four applied shaped handles and simply decorated with four engraved rings running around the base. It would have been produced for use as a Christening mug or presentation cup. Hallmarked for London 1905, makers Wakely & Wheeler (James Wakely & Frank Clarke Wheeler).

It measures 5.8cm (2 1/4") high and 5.1cm (2") wide excluding the handles ( 7cm (1 3/4")) including. It weighs 66g / 2.1ozt.
