Small Walnut Marquetry Inlaid Queen Anne Style Bureau

A very attractive late 19th century walnut inlaid small bureau or writing desk, made in the Queen Anne style and standing on elegant barley twist legs united by a shaped stretcher. The fall front is beautifully decorated with fine marquetry and inlaid ornament, featuring a central oval panel with scrolling foliate decoration surrounded by a delicate inlaid border. The warm walnut veneers display a pleasing colour and figure, giving the piece a refined decorative quality. Below the fall front is a single long drawer with decorative inlay to the drawer front and fitted with brass drop handles. The bureau stands on a base with a shaped apron and finely turned barley twist legs, joined by a shaped stretcher and ending in small turned feet, all typical of Queen Anne revival furniture of the late Victorian period. Compact in size, this is a charming and practical small bureau or writing desk, ideal for occasional use and well suited to both traditional and modern interiors.
