Solid Oak English Grandmother Clock, England c.1920
An English made solid oak Grandmother clock, (miniature longcase clock,) dating to the beginning of the 20th Century. In the Jacobean style, it has a break arch hood with barley twist columns and a paneled long trunk door and base . The brass dial has corner spandrels, a silvered chapter ring and a Tempus Fugit disc within the arch (Latin for Time Flies). The 8 day Westminster Chime (Big Ben) movement has a long pendulum and sounds the 1/4's on rods and strikes the hours. It has a chime/silent switch.
