Description
A really splendid bone china bottle-shaped vase and cover made in the Staffordshire potteries around 1830. The main feature of this piece is the magnificent, hand-painted romantic landscape that covers the main body of the vase. It is of exceptional quality, depicting a ruined abbey through to a lake scene with towering mountains, all in bright enamel colours. There seems to be no trace of a signature, so sadly the artist must remain unknown. Similarly, the manufacturer as there are no factory marks or pattern number to indicate which factory produced it. The neck of the vase and the cover are decorated with fine gilding.
