Staffordshire Figure Duke of Wellington on Horse Back

Charming antique English Staffordshire pearlware figure of the Duke of Wellington on his horse Copenhagen, right hand raised to his head, left hand holding the reins, wearing a plumed hat, cloak, tunic, breeches, and knee boots. From the mid-1830s until the early 1900s several Staffordshire factories specialised in these moulded earthenware portrait figurines which were decorated by hand and often depicted famous characters or personalities of the time. In good antique condition, small chip to base, expected general age related wear including some losses to painted decoration and all over crazing, please refer to detailed photos provided.
