Sterling Silver Bangle Victorian 1890 Horseshoe Bracelet 6 1/2" Length 12.6g

Fabulous Victorian Sterling silver (fully hallmarked) equestrian horseshoe bangle/bracelet. (Please excuse all the reflections/dark shadows in the pictures - was extremely difficult to photograph). Measures; 6 1/2" / 16.5 cm internal circumference, 9.5mm width and weighs a respectable 12.6 grams. Wonderful heavy Victorian design to the front of two slightly raised horseshoes to centre with an elaborate (slightly raised again) ivy leaf decoration around and each end is adorned with a 'zig zag' and flower motif. (The Victorians used the horseshoe on jewellery to symbolise good fortune and the ivy represents everlasting love, immortality and fidelity). Smooth and highly polished to the back of the bangle and is free from any inscriptions or initials. Clearly and fully hallmarked to the inside of the front (within different shaped, fancy recessed cartouches) with the Lion passant (Sterling silver), anchor (Birmingham assay) and lowercase Gothic letter; q - dating her to 1890. Also stamped with the makers initials (within an large oblong recessed cartouche); S. Bros. The opposite internal side is correctly hallmarked within fancy recessed cartouches with the Lion passant and lowercase Gothic letter; q. Secure push down 'cockerel comb catch which operates correctly, closing tightly with the very reassuring click and the hinge to the opposite side is true and firm with absolutely no play. Beautifully made and very comfortable to wear due to the oval shape. Excellent, bright, clean condition with no wear or damage and just a few extremely light and fine (micro) little surface scratches (showing under eyeglass only) commensurate with age - looks to have had very little use, perhaps only high days and holidays.
