Sterling Silver Chatelaine Powder Compact Antique with Swans Down Puff Mappin & Webb London 1910

Antique chatelaine powder compact made of sterling silver by the prestigious silversmith Mappin & Webb and fully hallmarked for London 1910. The case measures 6 cm in diameter and the attached suspensory chain and ring adding a further 9 cm to the overall length. The case has firm hinge and secure clasp and opens to reveal a gilded deep powder well which retains the original, unused silk backed fluffy swans down puff. On the underside of the lid is the original clear and reflective convex mirror. This excellent quality early powder compact is offered in very good condition with no signs of use and with no wear or damage.
