Description
Sterling silver vinaigrette with a lavish gilt finish.
Made by Ledsam, Vale & Wheeler, hallmarked from Birmingham in 1830 with a slightly later inscription to the inside of the lid from 1848.
No damage as in holes or dents etc, the odd small scuff inside which the camera may pick up on where the human eye would struggle to.
A super quality example which measures 35x24x10mm.
The inscription inside the lid which reads 'There shall be one fold and one shepherd' means, "There shall be one fold and one shepherd" (John 10:16) means that Jesus Christ is uniting all believers—both Jews and Gentiles—into a single, unified community of followers under His care. It signifies that diverse people are made one family through salvation, transcending cultural, national, or social differences.
Inclusivity of the Gospel: Jesus, the "Good Shepherd," gathers "other sheep" (Gentiles or others not in the immediate fold of Israel) into one flock, emphasizing that salvation is for everyone, not just one group.
