Sterling Silver Tiffany & Co Lidded Gravy Sauce Boat. JC Moore. C1858

This fabulous antique sterling silver gravy / sauce boat which is by luxury goods maker Tiffany & Co of Broadway, New York dates from c1858 and is a special design having a hinged lid. This gravy boat was designed by John Chandler Moore who was a well regarded American silversmith who worked exclusively for Tiffany & Co at that time. He displayed some of his work at the 1851 Great Exhibition and 1853 Exhibition of the Industry of All Nation. This high quality sauciere which is a heavy weight sits on it's raised foot which has a Greek key design around the bottom edge, has an open double handle with leaf pattern and the underside is marked with the maker's marks for Tiffany & Co, and English Sterling Silver. The gravy boat has a Greek key design and beaded edge which runs around the top of the body and is stamped with French import marks to the body and lid. A beautiful quality true antique piece of Tiffany that is in excellent condition so will look stylish on your dining table and perfect for serving your gravy or sauces. Material: Sterling Silver.
