Description
The makers of this superb taperstick were John Hunt and Richard Roskell who held a Royal Warrant and were silversmiths to Queen Victoria and they continued the business original started by Paul Storr in 1819.
This is a superb cast silver taperstick hallmarked in 1867 which is richly gilded and stands firmly on a raised circular base. There is a profusion of decorations with the base having heads, flowers, shells etc.and the top of the stick is also decorated extensively.
The stem consists of 3 cherubs one of whom is sitting on the shoulders of the other 2. The taperstick is in fine condition with no repairs or damage. Hallmarks are clearly struck and the makers name and registered number is also stamped on the base.
This is a an antique taperstick of exceptionally fine quality from these highly regarded silversmiths.
