A pretty 18th century Caughley porcelain ribbed tea bowl and saucer, with scalloped rims, unusually decorated only in gilt, most likely having been outsourced to Chamberlain's. I think this may well be the "Royal Wheel" border described in the trade documentation between the two companies. Unmarked, c.1785.
Reference: Caughley & Worcester Porcelains, Godden, Chapter V and plate 25 illustrates some teawares with a wide Fitzhugh type blue printed border, edged with a reduced part of this "wheel" design in gilt.
measurements
The bowl measures 8.5cm (3 3/8") wide and 5cm (2") high, and the saucer is 14cm (5 1/2") wide.
