Description
A very pretty pair of George III silver "berry" serving spoons with later embossed and engraved decoration to the bowls of flowers and feathered fluting to the rims. Bright cut engraved decoration of acanthus leaves at the start of the handles and lines of graduating dots leading to a very intricately engraved end with a shaped reserve filled with flowers below an oval cartouche framed with laurel leaves and housing a pretty crest of a rearing horse's head. The reverse of the handles has further bright cut engraved decoration to the underneath of the terminal and the drop. The bowls are gilded.
Hallmarked for London 1810, maker William Ellerby.
