Superb William IV Rosewood Circular Breakfast Table with Triform Base c.1830

A superb quality William IV period rosewood circular breakfast table, dating to circa 1830. The generously proportioned circular top is particularly striking, displaying exceptionally rich and highly figured rosewood veneers, carefully selected and arranged to showcase the dramatic natural grain and figuring of the timber. The top is finished with a moulded edge and deep veneered frieze and incorporates the original-style tilting mechanism, allowing the top to be raised when not in use. Raised on a substantial tapered pedestal with a moulded collar, terminating in a beautifully figured triform platform base. Each of the three sweeping supports is enriched with finely carved scroll detail and terminates in particularly impressive carved lion's paw feet. A handsome and imposing example of William IV furniture, combining the bold architectural form characteristic of the period with unusually attractive rosewood. The circular form makes it equally suitable as a breakfast or centre table, while the richly figured top gives the piece considerable decorative presence. English, circa 1830.
