Gentleman's large and highly impressive original Antique Swiss/English high grade 15 jewel pocket watch with beautiful ivory porcelain dial (Retailer signed) in a very chunky 16 size, Sterling silver, highly polished (mirror finish) hermetic rare Dennison 1 1/2 oz case.
Has been much loved and extremely well taken care of, looks to have had very little use, perhaps only high days and holidays - her condition certainly reflects this.
Full working order and is an excellent timekeeper with plenty of room on the regulator (which is sat correctly in the central position) for any further fine tuning.
Fully checked and serviced by my highly experienced watchmaker and is guaranteed to be 100% authentic - a timepiece to grace any collection!
Dial:-
Impressive and distinctive, high gloss, 'snowflake' white porcelain dial in mint condition - absolutely no hairlines, marks or nibbles.
Clearly signed in black very fancy arched script with the retailers name; John Rossiter & Sons WESTON SUPERMARE
and signed in arched black script to base; SWISS MADE.
Big bold once luminous Arabic numbers (have lost a little of their infill over the years) with black minute markers, bolder black 5 minute triangular markers and 'diamond' shaped black 15 minute markers to chapter ring.
Large recessed sub dial with black Arabic numbers and black seconds chapters.
Finely cut, original once luminous (amazingly no loss of infill to either) spade and whip hands and original blued steel arrow tip seconds hand all in lovely straight order.
Original very thick, sharp and un-worn bevel edge glass (not acrylic) in clear and bright condition with no scratches or nibbles and just one or two extremely tiny little air bubbles showing under eyeglass only.
Case:-
The highly polished and very chunky Dennison solid Sterling silver large 16 size hermetic case (4.9cm diameter / 6.9cm from top of bow to base, 1.3cm depth) is heavy (has a pleasing solid feel in the hand and total watch weight is a hefty 107.9 grams), robust and in wonderful condition (please excuse the reflections/dark shadows in the pictures, was extremely difficult to photograph) - absolutely no indentations or wear and just a few very light little overall surface scratches commensurate with age and use in her 106 years service.
Both covers (inside and out) still retain their original, high gloss, mirror finish.
The front bezel and back cover screw on and off correctly (hermetic), closing tightly (early form of waterproofing) and I have taken the liberty of oiling the threads for years of continued smooth operation.
Clearly hallmarked to the inside (within different shaped, big recessed cartouches) with the Lion passant (Sterling silver), anchor (Birmingham assay) and lowercase letter; u - dating to 1919.
(The Lion passant is again stamped to the back case curvette).
Also clearly stamped in arched script to centre; DENNISON WATCH CASE Co. LTD and carries the initials (within a recessed, oblong shaped cartouche); ALD - Aaron Lufkin Dennison (one founding Fathers of the American Waltham Watch Co., who moved to England to establish the Dennison case factory).
Clearly stamped with the weight of the case; 1 1/2 OZ.
Carries two old service marks (which are neatly placed just inside the inner circumference) - one looks to be dated; 37 (1937).
Numbered; 74535 - this is correctly, partially repeated to the case cuvette and to the inner bezel lip; 4535.
Movement:-
The stem wound and set high grade 15 ruby jewelled, 3/4 fire gilt plate Swiss lever movement (which still retains its original gilt dust ring) is in superb clean and bright order and as mentioned above has just been checked/serviced by my highly experienced watch maker.
Has a compensated balance wheel with brass balance screws and two brass meantime screws (for precision timing), bright blued steel over-coil balance spring which is true, in the round and 'breathing' well, large ruby jewels in sunken chaton settings, steel micro wheel regulator (again for precision timing), ruby end stone, ruby pallet jewels, highly polished (mirror finish) mainspring and ratchet barrel covers and original, matching steel case screws.
Stamped clearly on the top plates; SWISS and carries the makers initials (with a lozenge shaped cartouche); D.F & CO - Dimier Freres & Cie, Switzerland.
Numbered to the bottom plate (underneath the dial) with a very low movement number; 456.
Balance action is absolutely tremendous in all positions (could not be any better) and is keeping excellent time with a sure, strong positive action - runs like a train.
Winds extremely smoothly and fully (do not be afraid to fully wind, over-winding is the greatest horological myth!)
Hand set operates smoothly and correctly - the pull up/push down action is very firm and true.
Lovely original large crisp and totally un-worn rose gold 'onion' crown.
Original silver Dennison safety bow which is clearly stamped to the front; DQ - Dennison quality and carries the Lion passant for Sterling silver.
Appraisal:-
A very handsome and highly impressive Gentleman's Swiss/English timepiece which as mentioned earlier was much loved and proudly cared for by the original owner - she will make a perfect gift and a heirloom to be enjoyed by your future generations!

Will be delivered in a new presentation box as shown and be very securely and safely packed.
