Magnificent antique black basalt teapot, mostly glazed, hinged lid with a delightfully decorated metal hinge pin, all over relief decorations, body with classical scenes framed by columns, foliage to lower part of body, shoulder and lid. Unmarked, English Georgian period piece.
Despite its various conditions issues, it displays beautifully with so much wonderful detail to appreciate.
Few condition issues expected on an utilitarian piece of this age, chips to lid, shoulder and spout, few minor nicks and rubbing to edges, a few cracks namely around base of handle, the body extending to lower part of teapot and the base. Tried to capture the various aspects highlighted in the photos provided, so please refer to these as they form part of item's description.
Approximately 17.5cm tall, base is 13.5cm x 10cm, and weighs 600g.
Happy to answer any questions and provide more photos.
Thank you for looking.
