This ring is an early Victorian mourning ring which features a black domed onyx top set with a wonderful amethyst, held by ornate and dramatic engraved shoulders. The ring’s back is engraved with script lettering which reads ‘Mrs C Stephens Died 18th July 1842 Aged 53’. The amethyst is approximately 0.12ct.
This ring is accompanied with the death certificate and ancestry papers of Mrs Charlotte Stephens who died in 1842; scans of these can be seen in the ring's image gallery.
The ring, circa 1840's, tests as 15ct and is in good condition with light marks commensurate with age.
