Description
This Georgian ring features an oval locket finished with black enamel detailing. Behind the colourless crystal lies a piece of intricately woven hair, preserved to stand the test of time.
The reverse of the head has been engraved with the initials 'El'. Wide split shoulders of scrollwork form leading to a split 'V', which are heavily engraved.
Mourning rings traditionally were designed to hold a lock of hair so the wearer could keep a part of their loved ones close, giving comfort in their time of grief.
This ring is fully hallmarked by the Assay Office of London for 18ct gold in 1828. It is in good overall condition with light marks commensurate with age.
Please note this ring's ornate pattern work means it cannot be resized and is excluded from our Free Resizing service.
