Description
The Russian Chronometer No. 22017 is a historic two-day marine chronometer manufactured by NMEHN KNPOBA
This translates to "Marine Chronometer" in Russian, written as ХРОНОМЕТР МОРСКОЙ.
The additional letters "ГОСТ 8916-77" (GOST) refer to the official Soviet and Russian state manufacturing standard for precision mechanical marine timepieces.
These iconic, high-precision instruments (often branded as 6MX / 6МХ or Poljot / Полет produced by the First Moscow Watch Factory) were historically crucial for calculating longitude via celestial navigation. They are highly valued by maritime enthusiasts, museums, and collectors.
Housing: Encased in a brass bowl with a sliding winding-hole shutter, suspended on a gimbal mount. This entire assembly is nested inside a square, glazed mahogany deck box.
