An unusual brass bound, two section, teak secretaire campaign chest.
The hinged top secretaire drawer opening to three small internal drawers with recessed brass handles, a tooled leather writing slope, the top section of which opens to an arrangement of pigeon holes and a cupboard with storage well below, the bottom section of the writing slope ( with locking mechanism ) and an additional storage well, three further drawers below, all with recessed brass handles and locks ( all stamped for Hobbs & Co, London ) with working key, the sides with substantial brass carrying handles, raised on flattened bun feet.
With normal marks, scuffs, wear and some historic repairs, all as one would expect with an item of campaign furniture but overall this very handsome chest is in good, sound condition and needs to be seen to be fully appreciated.
