Penderyn Antiques are a family run business residing in an old Welsh chapel in the heart of the Brecon Beacons National Park. We source and restore a wide range of furniture, antiques, interiors and collectables. We have no specific style that we adhere to, (if we like it, we’ll buy it!) but we do have a keen interest in early Welsh country furniture and unusual decorative items. At Penderyn Antiques, we express an indebtedness to those nameless joiners who worked with wood so long ago before plastics and the age of automation. For in building furniture with integrity; so that it will last hundreds of years, they have been our mentors. Their work remains a testament to their commitment to their craft and excellence. Wood is the most used of all our natural resources. We have a duty to recycle, reuse, adapt and preserve it. We must use wood to create furniture that has longevity and combat the ‘throwaway’ society…even though it does grow on trees..”

Description

This is a well-proportioned Victorian antique pine trunk or blanket box. The antique pine trunk has a hinged lid that opens to reveal a spacious interior, with two removable trays to the top and a divider to the centre. The antique pine trunk is of rectangular form with exposed dovetail joints to the corners. Raised on turned feet. Finished with a fresh coat of natural wax. A rather pleasing example, with plenty of storage space due to its large proportions. Item Ref; M-3943

In good antique condition throughout with some signs of age. There is surface wear in places including age-related marks, scratches, stains and shrinkage to the lid (pictured), further marks and scratches to the front and sides (pictured). There is a notch missing from the bottom right corner (pictured), however the antique pine trunk remains structurally solid and sound. There is evidence of historic woodworm, this is now long gone and has been fully treated as a precaution. Overall, a good example of an antique pine trunk. Our carpenter inspects, repairs, and restores our items, so you can have full confidence that what you buy from us is ready for your home! We ask that you take the time to look at all the photos as they form part of the description and condition report of the item.
