Description
A story in a seat...Just look at the wonderful grain.
Elm has to be one of the nicest timbers, even better when its had time to mature, gather the marks, scars and wear that is so desirable. The grain to the elm seat is a true map of the saddle seats life and history, and is made from one piece of elm to create a comfortable saddle seat.
The elm 'S' shaped arms have a wonderful colour and grain. Jointed to the back frame and pegged at the back. The rest is of this charming chair is made of ash and tonally blends in well with the whole chair.
The back fans out with a shaped top rail holding in place the fine spindles creating a nice high back for support. The chair has 'H' shape stretchers and all the joints a very good.
You will find some ancient splits, cracks and a tiny loss at the top by the left arm back support. It is very minor and does not effect the integrity of the back frame. It' just adds a little more character to this lovely stick back chair.
