Victorian Gothic Revival Armchair of Smaller Proportions

A particularly well-shaped smaller armchair sometimes called a ladies chair, taking its influence from the Gothic Revival period and being of a high quality - rather than “run of the mill”. It was the quality and look that enticed us to purchase this chair, one of two. It’s a fine-looking chair with a dense mahogany frame, being the centre of attraction. The arms with their angular front and beautifully shaped sides sit on four dense legs - the front two being well shaped, sharp and well-turned all sitting on brass and pot castors. The shaped, upholstered back in the same deep burgundy acanthus leaf patterned fabric is finished with tarnished brass studs. The seat and arms are in good condition with no holes just showing a little overall wear. The frame is firm with a well-executed historic repair to the lower part of one of the rear legs – nothing that would stop you using it and there are historic marks to the sides. Overall a great looking chair of pleasing quality. We do have a larger armchair of similar design and style which is upholstered in the same fabric. Would make a fine looking pair indeed! We enjoy specialising in British furniture and all its trimmings. Purchasing any item online can sometimes be a bit of concern, rest assured we are a successful partnership of a successful interior designer and a chap with a knack of finding some interesting pieces… We have many happy clients whether it be for commercial, restaurant or home use and are fortunate to work from a great looking rural property once used to home the Dray horses from Bass Brewery. A true mix of rural charm and gritty industrial which is customer friendly if you care to see the pieces in the flesh.
