An attractive Victorian hairwork watch chain / Albert chain, this would also double as a nice bracelet. Intricate woven and braided hair with engraved rose gold plated metal end caps. Dog clip fastening at one end and a spring ring at the other with a large decorative gilt ball charm. It also has attached to the bottom an early 19th century gold ratchet key for a pocket watch, the ratchet key has some wear and a small split in the gold revealing its steel inner, outer casing is unmarked but tests as 18 carat gold. These early ratchet keys are highly sought after and overall this is a lovely interesting Albert chain. Approx measurements' 6.5" total length 1" key length 1.5" charm circumference Condition: Good used condition overall, some wear to the gilt metal and the aforementioned wear to the key, some fraying of the hairwork, commensurate with age.
