Victorian Mahogany Dressing Chest / Mirror c.1860
REF: LA 572 / LA50319
A fine quality mid-Victorian dressing chest with full length cheval, or dressing, mirror. Well made in solid mahogany with attractive mahogany veneers. This lovely and practical item of furniture is in excellent original condition with a warm , rich colour and patina. The central dressing mirror hangs between a pair of decorated carved supports and is fully adjustable. The mirror is flanked by a pair of graduated chests each with 4 drawers and each topped with a smaller "jewellery" drawer. Beneath the central mirror further storage is afforded by a box with a hinged lift up lid, originally intended for the storage of shoes. It is quite rare to find these items still together in one piece and this one is a particularly good example.
Camden Antiques has clarified that the Victorian Mahogany Dressing Chest / Mirror c.1860 (LA50319) is genuinely of the period declared with the date/period of manufacture being c.1860
