This is a fine Victorian pollard oak sideboard of outstanding quality and in superb condition. The mirrored top section has four turned and fluted columns that support a bow shaped crisply carved frieze, that terminates with an ogee cornice and a ribboned swag. The top has superbly figured veneers and beneath are three drawers with the original Art Nouveau copper handles. The front of the drawers are bombe shaped (serpentine) and rest above four cupboards, all with finely carved detail. The right hand cupboard is fitted with a cellarette drawer and shelf. The plinth is of a bold ogee form and the whole sits on six bun feet. Cost to make today (if you could get the materials and the craftsmen) £20k minimum.
