I hope to show case a small selection of Celtic jewellery, silver and bijouterie.
Mainly Scottish , Irish, Welsh, Brittany, Scandinavia and the Celtic people worldwide, to include what is generally considered to be Celtic design from non Celtic countries.
Late 19th Century Victorian Scottish Celtic plaid or kilt brooch with a banded agate front.
The brooch is a decent size of 5.0cm or 2 inches across, it has 8 pieces of banded agate in a circular shape polished and jointed to appear to be one piece, the outer end of each section is lobed to give an off circular shape, the inner end is held by a circular silver rim. Mounted on a slate backing which follows the agate shape with a substantial circular and lobed rim; the pin extends beyond the shape and is almost certainly original and the "C" catch has been replaces at some time in the past.
As normal for Scottish jewellery of this age it carries no hallmark or makers mark. All is good.
