In A Nutshell Antiques and Interiors was founded in Devon in 2014. Every piece we sell is carefully selected for its style, quality, originality and condition. We have a large workshop and pride ourselves in the quality of the pieces we sell, carrying out much of our sympathetic restoration 'in house'.
We have a large shop in the historic Dartmoor town of Ashburton in Devon where you can visit us Monday - Saturday 10am-5pm, or by appointment.

Description
A lovely mahjong set dating from the mid 20th Century, contained within its original silk covered case. The pieces are made from bone and bamboo joined with a nicely cut dovetail joint with the symbols and pictures finely carved into the bone. There is a complete set of 144 tiles plus a further 4 spare blank tiles and 4 joker tiles. There are also 4 small dice and 4 wind counters.
All components of the game are kept in a specially made case with velvet covered trays and a lovely silk cover with a traditional Chinese design.
The box is strong and sturdy and the closing latches snap shut firmly. There are a few minor marks but nothing detrimental and it displays well.

The whole set is in very good condition for its age. There are general light signs of wear and use and some discolouration on the pieces. The joints on the pieces are in good tight order and are very usable.
