Unlike the mills at Cromford, it is built on a major river, the river Derwent, which offered Arkwright the opportunity of a power source ten times greater than he enjoyed at his Cromford site. The mills are part Derwent Valley Mills UNESCO World Heritage Site and are now home to a textile museum” We are fortunate to have purchased the fire bins direct from the mill which would have been used in the winding shed. This is going to make a fabulous log holder or maybe cane or umbrella holder with its genuine worn look and feel to the red paint and black lettering “ FOR FIRE ONLY”.
