Description
This is a stainless steel bowl from Keswick school of Industrial Art with repousse decoration of a stylised rose. It is marked 'G54 Firth Staybrite KSIA Keswick 113' on the underside. It is in very nice condition with minimal wear to base.
Keswick school was established in 1893 to give employment and additional skills to the unemployed. It developed a reputation for high quality copper and silver work. Stainless steel in the form of Staybrite, was introduced in 1930 and the date numbering system suggests this piece was made in wither 1937 or 1963. I think it is more likely to be the latter.
