Vintage Mid 20th Century Salmon Car Mascot by Louis Lejeune

This is a nice quality, chromed leaping salmon car bonnet mascot, dating from the mid 20th century. The mascot has been mounted onto an oak base, thus turning it into a desk ornament or perhaps even a paperweight. The Louis Lejeune website still sells this model of mascot, listing it as the ‘old style’ design, which I believe originally dates from the 1930s. The company also offers bases at additional cost, but the type fitted to this example does not match those supplied by Lejeune, which makes me suspect that its former owner had the mount made for it. The current website list price is £271.00, which makes this example great value. Perfect for a keen fisherman!
