Vintage Pygmalion Powder Compact Novelty Damask Handbag Purse Form

This vintage Pygmalion figural powder compact dates circa 1940 and appears to be unused. The compact is in the form of a handbag complete with raised handle and measures a maximum of 7.5 cm across the base and is 6.5 cm in height from base to the top of the handle. The case is made of polished, shiny gold tone metal with the front and back covered in beautiful damask fabric featuring colourful flowers and gold thread. The compact opens by gently pushing the handle downwards and under the lid is a framed glass mirror which is clear and reflective. The hinged powder well door opens and closes correctly and the powder well beneath has both the unused original sifter and Pygmalion powder puff. Offered in very good condition with no dents or dings to the case, no metal tarnish, no damage to the fabric coverings and with no signs of use.
