Description
Vintage Celtic silver clan of the Isles galley brooch, fully hallmarked in Birmingham in 1957 and made by C.H. & Co. who are Cook Holland & Co.. It's around one inch across good pin and a heavy duty "C" catch.
There are a few legends associated with the Clan galleys and one most common is the the galley is carrying the departed soul to Tir nan Og. I am not certain which Clan of the Isles that this galley is intended to represent (possibly Macdonald of Islay) but it's sails are furled and has arrived at it's destination, the soul has reached eternity.
It's not just a brooch.
