Fabulous Gentleman's Freemasons pocket watch chain Sterling silver and enamel Antediluvian Order Of Buffaloes fob. Measures; 3.8cm height (including the top ring), 2.7cm width and weighs a heavy 13.1 grams. Beautifully formed in the shape of a rising sun with attractive engine turning to the golden gilt front. Stamped in silver script upon a raised Royal blue enamel background around the circumference; NEMO MORTALIUM OMNIBUS HORIS SAPIT (no man is wise at all hours) R.O.H., and carries the initials to centre (in red, blue and white enamel) AORB (Antediluvian Royal Order Of Buffaloes). The back is clearly stamped; BRO W. KNIGHT 24-11-50 and is clearly hallmarked (within different shaped recessed cartouches) with the Lion Passant (Sterling silver), anchor (Birmingham Assay) and capital letter; C - dating it to 1927 (interesting as the inscription date is 1950). To the top is the makers name (slightly rubbed); FATTORINI & SONS BRADFORD - they where one of the leading silversmiths of the era. Robust silver top ring to attach to a Masonic Gentleman's pocket watch chain. Excellent clean and bright condition with absolutely no damage (or chips to the enamel) and just some very tiny overall surface scratches commensurate with age.
