Vintage Sterling Silver Hip Flask, Art Deco

A handsome vintage Art Deco era, sterling silver, leather covered hip flask. Hailing from the 1930s this substantial hip flask is made from glass with a sterling silver bayonet cap, Cork lined. It has a sleek sterling silver beaker base, this can be removed to be used as a beaker and still has some much of the original gilt lining. The top half is covered in a rich hand tooled calf leather, the leather has an animal skin embossed print in alligator style with a fine snakeskin pattern running down the seams, very skilled craftsmanship. This hip flask is fully hallmarked for sterling silver, Sheffield assay office, 1935, James Dixon and Sons, a renowned silver maker. Condition: Good used condition overall, some light surface wear commensurate with age, wear to the cork, embossing to the leather wearing very slightly in places Weighs approx 393 grams.
