Lovely Malacca wood and hallmarked silver walking stick or cane. The silver was assayed in London as shown in the pictures, date letter for 1919. The makers mark for Nathaniel & Charles Feldman trading as Feldman Brothers. Lovely tagua nut pommel grown on the elephant plant and native to South America, a silver collar. The collar is over sized and engraved with engine turned patterns which resemble the grain markings in the pommel sphere. Mounted on an Malacca wood shaft, a good weight cane. The ferrule is made of polished black buffalo horn. Please contact us with any questions you may have.
It measures 93.3 cm 36 3/4 inches in length, the pommel is 5 cm 2 inches wide, the silver collar is 6 cm 2 3/8 inches long.
Shires Antiques has clarified that the Walking Stick Cane 1919 Solid Silver Collar Malacca Shaft Tagua Pommel (LA348972) is genuinely of the period declared with the date/period of manufacture being 1919
It's in excellent condition but with some signs of age and use as you'd expect at this age. Some light bumps and surface marks to the silver as shown but no holes or splits.
