Description
Walking stick cane 1925 hallmarked 9ct gold pommel snakewood shaft. The 9ct rose gold top is fully hallmarked for the Chester assay office and carries the date letter for 1926. To add to the sheer quality of this piece is the makers mark, Garrard & C0 of Mayfair London. Garrards were the Royal Jewellers from 1843 to 2007. The business was run by Sebastian Garrard until his death in 1946, hence Sg on the makers mark. After that they amalgamated with Goldsmiths and Silversmiths, another of the most prestigious makers in the country at the time. Stunning 9ct rose gold pommel and polished red deer antler pommel, both of which set of the grain pattern in the shaft perfectly. Snakewood is rare to find having been very expensive in it's day as it is now, an 18 inch section today would cost you almost as much as the asking price for this cane. A snakewood cane today from James Smith of London with a silver collar (Not gold) costs around £1950. The shaft is beautifully grained and coloured, you can get an idea from the pictures but in natural daylight this is perhaps the best figured cane we've ever found. The shaft is excellent as well. Please contact us with any questions you may have.

measurements

It measures 91.5 cm 36 inches in length, the pommel is 2.7 cm 1 1/16 inch wide and 4.2 cm 1 3/4 inches long.
