Lovely ebony hardwood and hallmarked silver walking stick or cane. The silver was assayed in London as shown in the pictures, date letter for 1919 and makers mark for George Gilliam Davis. Lovely engraved decoration to the silver top with a black cartouche to the top. The ferrule is original and made of brass and steel. Please contact us with any questions you may have.
It measures 91.5 cm 36 inches in length, the pommel is 4.2 cm 1 5/8 inches wide and 6.3 cm 2 1/2 long.
Shires Antiques has clarified that the Walking Stick Cane Hallmarked 1919 Solid Silver Pommel Ebony Wood Shaft (LA365103) is genuinely of the period declared with the date/period of manufacture being 1919
It's in excellent condition but with some signs of age and use as you'd expect at this age. Some bumps to the silver as shown but non of these have caused holes and could be polished which would hide them far more. Left so that you can see them in the pictures.
