Fine, All Original example of a vintage Art Deco, Westminster chiming French wall clock, this one by maker, Stem. The lovely grained and patinaed Walnut box case of simple Deco lines, has a full-length fluted hinged front door with canted corners and hand-carved vine fruit garniture. The door also has twin glazed tablets, the upper tablet to view the dial, the lower table (with silvered surround and floral decoration) allowing viewing of the large, octagon shaped, nickel pendulum bob. The period symbolic chrome dial is in immaculate condition, with a cream chapter ring and large black Arabic numerals. The dial is signed by the maker along with “Made in France” and is finished with a pair of black Skeleton style hands secured by a threaded collet. The clocks fabulous 8-day Westminster chiming movement has 8 x hammers, chiming the quarters and hours on 2 x sets of vertical hanging rods. This delivers a very pleasing smooth, yet deep resonate tune, synonymous with its rod dimensions and case aperture. The clock also has a ‘chime / silent’ operation should it be required.
