A superb walnut and mahogany bureau in the Louis XVI Manner dating to the middle part of the 20th century. The top section of the bureau is inlaid with a centre panel of walnut with satinwood stringing and an outer band of mahogany and three small drawers with ormolu handles with fronts matching the top inlay with a band of ormolu on all three sides. Below is the curved bureau front that opens as the lower drawer is pulled open, a secret mechanism that works perfectly with ormolu mounts of acanthus leaves top and bottom. The interior has three further small drawers and a black leather writing surface.
