Watch: Gents 1950s Pesag Automatic Wrist Watch

The watch has a 17-jewel Felsa 690 automatic Bidynator movement which is working nicely. Early automatic watches had been powered with bumper movements. Rolex subsequently developed a full rotor system where the rotor moved in one direction - this movement was protected by a patent. Felsa subsequently developed an automatic movement where the rotor moved in both directions and this bi-directional was duly named the Bidynator. The watch measures 30mm diameter excluding the winding crown and the lugs (the size is typical of 1950s watches but, with today's fashions, it would suit a slimmer wrist). The case is gold plated while the screw-on case back is stainless steel. There is some rubbing to the plate if you look closely. The lens is in good condition. The dial is in its original finish with original hands and centre seconds hand. It is signed Pesag, the name being formed from the surnames of its founders: PEretz Straussberg (a Holocaust survivor who emigrated to Switzerland) and Abraham Glanzer. The company operated in Switzerland, sourcing and assembling quality watch components. A new leather strap has been fitted. The watch comes in a new presentation box.
