Watch: Gents 1960s Smiths Astral National 17 Wrist Watch

The watch has a 17-jewel hand-winding movement, stamped Made in England, which is working nicely. The watch measures 32mm diameter excluding the winding crown and the lugs. The main body of the is gold plated while the case back is stainless steel. There are three small patches of plate loss but you have to look closely to see them, not very obvious when the watch is being worn. The lens is in lovely condition, some reflection showing in the photos. The signed dial is signed Smiths Astral National 15. It is in its original finish with dauphine shaped hands and a subsidiary seconds dial. The National 17 name originates from the 'Put on your National Hat' advertising campaign launched at the International Watch and Jewellery Trade Fair at Earls Court in September 1965. A new leather strap has been fitted. The watch comes in a vintage Smiths presentation box, and also has the Smiths guarantee. All prices include UK postage (excluding Northern Ireland).
