Watch: Rare World War 1 Gents Large Trench Watch with Shrapnel Guard

The watch has a Swiss stem-winding movement which is working nicely and keeping good time to within around five minutes over 24 hours. The watch is an excellent size at 38.5mm diameter excluding the onion crown and fixed lugs. The case is nickel and it is in very nice condition. The watch comes with a built-in shrapnel guard which has a ‘brevet demandé’ (patent pending) mark and also the maker’s mark of M&Co (an unrecorded mark). The dial has some damage around the edge but this is covered by the shrapnel guard, and there are some very faint hairlines. A new leather strap has been fitted.
